Casino – A Look at the Las Vegas Casino Scene

For anyone who has ever dreamed of stepping into someone else’s shoes and seeing their fantasies come to life, Casino is an opportunity to get a glimpse at what it’s like to gamble, win big, hang out with the rich and famous, and have a luxurious lifestyle. Casino is also an opportunity to see what it’s like behind the scenes of a Las Vegas casino.

While many movies have been made that feature the glamorous side of gambling, few have done as good a job as Casino. It’s not only a story of organized crime and the mob, but it also does a good job of showing the opulence and neon signs that are so prevalent in Las Vegas. It also digs deep into what makes gambling so tempting to some people and shows why it’s so hard to stop.

The movie is anchored by a great performance from Robert De Niro as Danny Ocean, but Sharon Stone is equally as good as Ginger McKenna. Joe Pesci is also excellent as the slimy gangster Santoro, and rounds out the cast of characters that make up the core of the story. Casino also does a good job of showing how casinos generate significant profits by catering to a particular type of customer. These customers are known as “comps” and are given free hotel rooms, dinners, tickets to shows, limo service, and airline tickets. These customers help offset the cost of running a casino and often make up the majority of a casino’s gross revenue.
